Hi everyone!

On my recent travels, I had to connect from a flight that arrives around 0045hrs in Changi, to a flight with a 1400hrs departure from Singapore. This connecting time presented me with the opportunity to try the Ambassador Lounge and Hotel at Singapore Changi Airport's Terminal 2.

Location and Costs

The lounge and transit hotel is located at level 3, after clearing immigration. Hence, if you are using the transit hotel, bear in mind you have no access to your checked luggage.

There is a package deal that includes both access to the nap room and the lounge for 5 hours, which costs SGD 58.85.

Separately, using the lounge on its own would cost SGD 35.31 for 5 hours, with a rate of SGD 10 per hour for any extended use. The nap room would cost SGD 39 for a minimum 3 hours use, with a charge of SGD 9.42 per hour for any extended use. These fares only valid at the hotel and lounge in terminal 2.

The Room

Reception area at Ambassador Transit Hotel T2.

Upon check-in, an access card was handed in order to enter the room. As shown in the picture, each nap room has a single bed and a desk with chair. A mineral water and a towel was also provided inside the room.

The television with cable TV services also available on each room.

There is no ensuite bathroom on each nap room. However, there are more than six bathrooms that is clean and well maintained, easily accessible from the room for your use.

Personally I found the powerplug (and the USB plugs) are sufficient to charge a solo traveler's personal electronic devices.

The Lounge

Following a roughly three-hours rest on the nap room, I proceed to the lounge situated right across the transit hotel.

The lounge features a number of sofas and coffee tables, a work station of windows-based computers with internet access, and a gym (Note that there might be an additional cost to use of gym equipments). Free wireless internet is also provided in the vicinity of the lounge.

The buffet food options includes a four main options, soup, cereal bar, cakes, dim sum station, salad bar, and a flow of hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages (i.e. tea, coffee, juice, milk). Alcoholic beverages are sold on the lounge separate of any lounge package though.

Cakes and beverages station.

Main dishes buffet option. When I first entered the lounge at 0430am, the option was not exactly as I expected. The option only consists of chicken nuggets, chicken pies, and samosas. Later on these foods were fortunately replaced, with a considerably better breakfast option.

The early batch of food I obtained, consisting of chicken nuggets, samosas, and chicken pie, with the asparagus soup. The chicken pie turned out to be better than it appeared, hence I had another round.

The latter breakfast option, consisting of omelet, baked beans, sausages, and hashbrowns.

Conclusion

The room and the bed itself was comfortable enough to accommodate a short rest between long flights, which might be very useful if you are stuck in an Economy seat. Given the well maintained state of the bathrooms, I have no issue with the lack of ensuite bathroom.

The lounge provides a calm environment for you to catch up with some work while waiting between flights.Furthermore, the presence of gym facilities might be attractive to those who like to stay active between flights. That being said, this lounge could work a little bit on their hot food options as it is behind of other lounges in the airport.

Certainly, to those looking for a proper rest within the Changi Airport airside, this package deal by the Ambassador Transit Hotel is a considerable option.
